Why Women
Cheat And Do They Cheat For Different
Reasons?
Are the reasons why women cheat really that
much different to those of a man? For decades much of the
research carried out on infidelity focused around the
reasons why men cheat on their girlfriends or wives and
seldom on why women cheat. As such, the reason's why
women cheat has been largely ignored. Little wonder since
a common misconception about infidelity is that men cheat
more often than women when in fact, women, especially
younger women, are just as likely to cheat as their male
counterparts. The reasons men cheat are well documented,
but what are the explainations for why women cheat? Are
they motivated by the same factors as men when it comes to
having an affair? It is widely accepted that both men and
women are likely to begin an affair as a result of an
underlying problem in their relationship.
Do You Suspect Your
Partner May Be Unfaithful?
It may be that the relationship has become stressed and jaded
by the pressures of everyday home and family life, or simply
that familiarity has allowed one or both partners to become
complacent about their role in the relationship and the need to
keep the spark alive. It is interesting to note also, that the
numbers of female partners embarking on affairs has been
steadily increasing in recent years. The individual reasons
for why women cheat on their partner are too numerous
to discuss here but there are some common factors which
repeatedly cause the break-up of a marriage or
relationship.
One of the fundamental differences in men and women engaging in
affairs is the type of affair they have. Whereas men often use
an affair as a purely sexual outlet an affair for a woman can
mean much more than just physical excitement. Many women begin
to have an affair when their emotional needs are not being
fulfilled in their current relationship and so they seek
comfort and reassurance elsewhere. When a third party appears
to provide the attention they lack so much at home it can be no
surprise when the woman throws caution to the wind and becomes
involved in an illicit affair.
Sexual desire, although less likely than in the case of a man,
can also be the cause of infidelity amongst women. The woman
that seems on the surface to have everything, a loving partner,
a nice home, healthy kids and financial security can often be
lacking one of the most basic human desires; a satisfying sex
life! Women, just like men, have a need for excitement.
Sometimes that excitement comes from a sexually charged
experience. The home and family life, and even the sex life of
a woman, can quickly and easily settle into a routine that
becomes tedious and mundane and lacks the excitement of the
early stages of her relationship with her
partner.
In modern relationships it is more likely than ever that a
woman may simply become lonely in her relationship. Demands on
both partners have never been higher due to the faster pace of
modern life and the stress that follows working in a
high-pressure environment. Many partners now spend long and
frequent periods away from home on business trips, have long
commutes to and from their places of work or work long hours to
meet modern financial needs. When all of these factors are put
together many partners may simply not have the energy left to
devote to working on a healthy relationship. When the male
partner is frequently absent, loneliness can often lead to a
woman developing a relationship with another partner, a family
friend or a mutual acquaintance simply as a result of their
proximity to them and the absence of their
spouse.
If a woman has previously been the victim of infidelity she
have many doubts about her self esteem and may feel the need
for reassurance that she is still an attractive and desirable
person. This reaffirmation can often come in the form of
attention from another man and will frequently lead to an
affair. She may also see an affair as a form of revenge for the
hurt she has experienced as a result of her partner being
unfaithful.
